I Love to Read Week--February 13 - 17
Spirit Week - Monday - Wear a shirt with words
Tuesday - Wear red and pink (also Valentine's Day)
Wednesday - Dress as your favorite Storybook character
Thursday - Wacky Day
Friday - Pajama Day (Bring a bedtime story)
Other activities for the week: Write a Round-Robin story (story travels from class to class), Ring-Read (always have a book with you for DEAR at the sound of a bell), List your top 5 favorite books, List your top 5 reasons why "Our School is Cool"

ELA--I will be checking reading logs on Monday for 150 min. of reading as well as Agendas for signatures. We are continuing our Novel Study on Searching for David's Heart and will complete the novel this week. The students will work on a final Novel Study project later this week to finalize the novel. I have been unable to find the movie online for download. If anyone knows of a site that might have it available please let me know. It was a made for TV movie by Disney and was shown on ABC.
The students thoroughly enjoyed working with Christine Lachance this week during an Improv Workshop on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Thanks very much Christine for sharing your expertise with us.

Math--Both Grades will begin work on Ch. 6 this week on fractions.

Social Studies--Students are continuing with their unit on Egypt. They will be continuing next week completing and presenting their research on their god or goddesses and then will be working on the characteristics of the culture. They will have a test on all of Egypt early Feb.

French--
We are practicing four dialogues in French: "How are you?", "What is your name?","How old are you?", and "Where do you live?". They should be reviewing the material as, come the first week of February, they will have a quiz every week to get ready for the term test on February 21. Some of the students still did not finish their homework: compose fifteen simple sentences using the verbs on their list; working at home is just as important as participating in class so please help them along.
