Weekly Update Oct. 26--30

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a good Halloween weekend.

ELA & Religion--Students prepared chapel skits and worked on their journals. We also did a lesson on the History of Halloween and talked about vocabulary and did an internet scavenger hunt. Students are now working on creative writing Halloween Stories. We completed a Religion Lesson and God and Glory.

Math--Grade 8s are working on Ch. 3 on the Pythagorean Theory and square roots. Grade 7s are completing Chapter 2 on decimals and estimating and will have a test at the end of this week.

Social Studies--Students created their own fact or fiction game using the text based on information on Egypt.

Science--Students worked on designing an osmosis experiment. We may not be able to do it though.

French--Students are worked on Halloween activities.

Compassion Canada: We are collecting the $1/family/month for Compassion Canada as indicated in the letter sent home a few weeks ago. The money can be left at the office or put into the jar on the alter in the chapel area.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes--You should have received a letter home last week explaining this cause. The students will be discussing what they can bring and we will create a sign-up sheet. We will be completing 2 boxes, one for a boy and one for a girl. Also, we ask each family to bring $1 to help cover the costs of shipping the shoeboxes.

Agenda Check--EVERY MONDAY

Home Reading--It is essential to the progression of the student's reading level to complete the home reading each week. Students need to read 150 min./week and log this in their Reader Response Journal. The log must be signed by a parent and then a response is written each Monday. Many students do not get their parents to initial their log as well as MANY STUDENTS ARE NOT COMPLETING THE READING. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ASK YOUR CHILD ABOUT THIS.

Shops--Nov. 6

Pizza Lunch--Nov. 4

Have a great week!
