Report Cards and Portfolio Conferences--It was great to see everyone at the conferences. Please make sure to return the report card envelopes signed as soon as possible.
Shoe Box Donations--Thank-you for your donations. The school put together 20 Shoeboxes and they were picked up by the Paramedics on Tuesday last week.
Shops--Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately to walk to Shops. The weather is changing and they will be expected to walk to shops no matter what the weather is.
Christmas Hamper Program will be running from Dec 14-17 this year. We will be providing more information as we get closer about how you can be involved. We are definitely looking for families to participate in delivering the hampers, especially on the Saturday.
ELA--I will be checking reading logs on Mondays for 150 min. of reading as well as Agendas for signatures. Students have begun working on a Reader's Theatre Unit with Ms. Kuhl. Three Reader Responses for December will be due on Dec. 16.
Math--Gr. 8s have just begun Ch. 4 on Percents. They should be bringing home their tests for signing tonight. The Gr. 7s wrote their Ch. 3 test today and will begin Ch. 4 tomorrow with Ms. Kuhl on Percents as well.
Social Studies--We are comparing cultures of Paleolithic and Neolithic Times.
Phys. Ed.--Mr. Wozney gave the students a Food Guide to fill out for six days. It is due on Thursday, Dec. 1. This is part of their Phys. Ed./Health curriculum.

Weekly Update November 20, 2011
Report Cards and Portfolio Conferences--Report cards went home on Friday. A sign-up sheet is posted in the front hallway for Portfolio conferences being held on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 in the evening. There will be up to four families in the classroom viewing portfolios at the same time. I will be in the classroom as well to answer any questions. If you would like an individual appointment at a different time, please email me or speak to me to arrange that.
Mme Helene will be available on Tuesday evening. If you would like to set up an individual conference with her you may do so by emailing her directly ecarty@bsls.ca or calling the school.

If you are unable to bring in the item(s) please let me know. We need the items in the classroom by Monday, November 21 as collection of the boxes will be on Tuesday.
Shake It Up--The students seemed to enjoy the Shakespearean Improv Play. We are hoping to start a bit of an improv club in the coming weeks.

Math--Gr. 8s are continuing to work on Ch. 3, the Pythagorean Theorem involving square roots and perfect squares. They should complete the chapter this week. The Gr. 7s have been working on Ch. 3 and we have looked at perpendicular bi-sectors and angle bi-sectors. We should finish the chapter this week.
Social Studies--We are continuing to work on Ch. 2 on The Early Peoples. We are currently discussing the Stone Age.
Ms. Kuhl--Our student teacher will be with us full time starting November 23 until December 22. She will be teaching ELA and Gr. 7 Math primarily but will be doing some Religion, Art and Social Studies. The students have really enjoyed having her in the classroom.
